Must have text for any psychiatric trainee. This text is not comprehensive but it's not intended to be. As a quick reference for basic management points, differentials, etc., it's a great text to have in your coat. I think it would be useful even for medical students for their rotation.
I use it almost every day, fits into coat pocket, print is quite small, have to strain your eyes to read. Contains very useful,practical information, everything is very well organized, succinct, lots of useful tables, really does what it's claims and is supposed to do, therefore 5 stars. A little larger print probably would not increase book thickness that much for the (hopefully) next edition?
Great to use while on the patient unit, even though it still uses the DSM IV TR, it's really beneficial and helps learn the basics. Would recommend this book along with kaplan and saddock. If they ever come out with a new edition, I would totally snap it up.
The digital version is not "Kindle friendly." Important charts, tables etc are displayed in a font, like the original, but too small to read on the Kindle with no ability to zoom in. The content is helpful of course but, I recommend buying a more up-to-date Psych hand book or one that has been made to work well with Kindles, tablets etc.
This is a great reference to have. I pull it out less these days, but it's useful during first year, especially on night float.
I'm still trying to get into residency, but for the few observerships I've done, it was extremely helpful!I can't wait to use it as a daily information source at residency!I had spend a lot of time reading the reviews on this and other similar products. This was by far the best one I found....Highly recommend!
Must have for any psychiatry intern/resident. Its very helpful to have this in your pocket during rounds.
Great resource as a fourth year medical student going into Psychiatry. Many of the residents I worked with either already had it or ordered it after looking at it.
